Slovak luge suffered another loss

“On Monday, February 6, 2023, the former President of the Slovak Luge Association Ing. Martin Findura at the age of 60.

Born in Poprad on July 15, 1962, he was a junior representative of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic in two-seater sledge along with Bizub. He made a great contribution to the development of Slovak luge. He was the head of the Slovak Luge Association for 16 years (1992-2008). He headed the luge part of the Slovak team at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City and in Turin in 2006. He was instrumental in the construction of the luge starting simulator with an operating building, which was opened in 2005.
Among athletes Martin Findura was also known as the former director of the FIS hotel in Štrbské Pleso. He was a long-time chairman of the board of directors of the High Tatras Tourism Association. Apart from sport, he was also a successful businessman. For the last few years he and his wife ran the Altendorf guesthouse in Stara Lesna, where he retired for eternity.
The last farewell will take place on Friday, 10 February at 14:00 in the House of Mourning in Nový Smokovec.
